De datum voor de  tweede editie van de Malheur bosmarathon  ligt vast !  Namelijk zondag 19 september om 10.00 u.

Net als vorig jaar  kun je  kiezen uit de volledige marathon afstand,  een halve  marathon of opnieuw een estafette marathon.  Het parcours loopt door en rond het Buggenhout bos, m.a.w. de wedstrijd loopt zowel over verharde wegen als over  onverharde wegen.

Over twee weken kun je opnieuw starten aan de  jaarlijkse nachtelijke oriëntatietocht die ik samen met de dames volleybalploeg van Steenhuffel organiseer.  Meer info , maar vooral de eerste tips i.v.m. de startplaats vindt u op onderstaande  link :

Voor 2011 hadden wij toch stiekem al wat plannen op adventure race gebied.Het WK zou zeer waarschijnlijk in Frankrijk gehouden worden. Dat is redelijk dicht bij.
Afgelopen week werd duidelijk dat de WK 2011 naar Australie gaat, Tasmanie wel te verstaan.
Dat is een stuk verder weg, maar zeg nu zelf, is het niet erg mooi om daar een AR te doen??

Australia has won the hosting rights for the Adventure Racing World Championships in 2011 which will be held in the state of Tasmania.

Race Director Craig Bycroft said “Tasmania as a world renowned adventure destination and support from Events Tasmania were two of the key factors in us winning the Adventure Racing World Championships”. Geoff Hunt, ARWorld Series Director said “I’m sure the 2011 Adventure Racing World Championship will be a huge success and look forward to exploring the state of Tasmania.”

Produced for the Adventure Racing World Championships will be a 1hr Destination/Adventure Sports Documentary to be aired locally and internationally. It will have a key focus on the athletes and the adventure landscape of Tasmania.

XPD will now begin seeking event partners and supporters to provide the world the best Adventure Racing World Championships possible. Already on board as a media partner is Australia’s premier adventure and outdoors magazine, Outer Edge, which will cover the event in the lead up to and during the Championships.”

The race is scheduled for late 2011. Teams of four will race day and night for over 700km in the disciplines of mountain biking, trekking and kayaking. The course will take in some of the best adventure “hot spots” in the Tasmania.

The Adventure Racing World Series is an international circuit of premiere adventure races in 10 countries culminating every 12 months in the Adventure Racing World Championships.

In 2006 the 2nd Edition of XPD was successfully held in Tasmania and received great support from the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, Parks & Wildlife Service, Forestry Tasmania, Hydro Tasmania and the Hobart City Council.

The Adventure Racing World Championship in 2011 is supported by the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania.

Het is relatief rustig geweest op onze site. Na het WK heeft iedereen een sport pauze genomen. Ondertussen is die pauze voorbij. Iedereen pakt de training weer voorzichtig op. Martine is weer terug uit Afghanistan en kan zich ook weer bij het team vervoegen.
Wat zijn de plannen voor 2010??
Eigenlijk waren die al vrij duidelijk. Het zou een rustig jaartje worden qua adventure racen. Een aantal teamleden hebben het erg druk met verbouwen, het gezin en nieuwe banen. Het plan was om daarom ons in te schrijven voor de UTMB, de trail/berg wedstrijd aller tijden. 166 km door de bergen van Frankrijk, Italie en Zwitserland.
Dus hebben we ons ingeschreven en afgelopen week was de loting. Er moesten ongeveer 1200 lopers uit doordat het aantal deelnemers veel te hoog was.
Helaas, Wim en Martine zijn uitgeloot. Ontzettend balen want het zou het hoofddoel worden voor 2010.
Maar we zijn nog bezig met een heel klein kansje om er toch tussen te komen. Of dat lukt horen we volgende week. Lukt dat niet dan zullen we waarschijnlijk de TDS als alternatief gaan doen. 106 km met 6600 hoogtemeters. Ook een mooie optie maar het voelt toch als een schrale troost.
